Charis & Bill

“Working with Lou was a pleasure from start to finish. We were planning our wedding from Colorado, which comes with its own set of challenges, and Lou made it as easy as possible. He is incredibly prompt with his communication, personable, easy to work with and an all around swell guy. My husband and I are BIG music fans with pretty specific tastes, and Lou dealt with our requests with ease. The music was great all night, and we really enjoyed it.

Where Lou really shines, though, is as an MC. We did not want a loud and obnoxious DJ, trying to pump up the crowd and making everyone do the Chicken Dance. We just wanted someone to make the evening go smoothly, make sure that things happened when they were supposed to, and to ensure that everyone was having a good time. Lou did all of these things really, really well. He was personable and laid-back, but fun, and he kept the flow of the evening going without being intrusive or obnoxious.

I can’t remember what we paid, but I feel like we got a really good value for our money. He maintained great communication, showed up on time and did exactly what he said he would, and was just really great throughout the whole process. Highly recommended!!”

My Observations

Charis and Bill had an absolutely awesome wedding ceremony and reception at Buttermilk Falls Inn & Spa. The picturesque day started with a wedding ceremony by the water, where ducks and geese dotted the landscape and one of Bill’s friends strummed his guitar to entertain guests till the wedding party walked down the aisle. Charis and Bill wrote beautiful vows to each other and for fun measure celebrated their union with Everything Is Awesome from the Lego Movie. Yes, the fun began right off the bat!

The night was a cornucopia of different sounds and styles, from neo-psychodelia folk rock of Phish to the soulful sounds of the Motown-Stax era, new-wave, and hip-hop. Just about every genre was played while Hickory provided a succulent pig roast with all the fixings.

Charis and I brainstormed an idea to allow her to take a quick breather and change into more comfortable attire and we came up with the Sparkler Outro right at dusk. All the guests grabbed a sparkler and flanked each side of the path to the barn. The Ohio Players / Love Rollercoaster and Burning Down The House / Talking Heads became the theme song to that fun bit!

The night continued with fun sounds, lots of group photos, and true to form, ended the night with Phish.
