Unfortunately Senate Garage has made the announcement that the 2026 wedding season will be their last, as they are welcoming Rough Draft into the space. While it’s a bittersweet end to weddings at Senate Garage, the owners of Rough Draft have found an incredible new home a few blocks from their current location.
As a Hudson Valley wedding DJ, Senate Garage is truly a unique and exquisite venue to be able to perform at. Since 2017 I’ve performed there over two dozen times, had the fortune of having some truly memorable couples, and amazing weddings. All helmed by the unshakable April Ost, you can rest assured that if you have booked Senate Garage and DJ Lou you will have one incredible team to give you peace of mind.
Ceremonies at Senate Garage are held either on the Senate House grounds outside (with a fee) or inside the main building. Ceremonies outside are highly advised to have amplification to combat the various noises of the intersecting Clinton Ave., N Front St, and Fair St. Typically I mic up the officiant and the primary partner and in 35-40% of the cases I will mic up the secondary partner as well.
If the ceremony is being held indoors, the space gives a number of options for layout to accommodate your vision, and I can provide the sound even in more challenging designs like a circle.
While the space is rather large, dinner layouts can be designed to create an intimate space. Because of the size of the room, and nature of the brick, metal, stone, and concrete within, I place additional speakers in the back of the room to create balanced sound throughout.

Are you a preferred vendor at Senate Garage? Yes, I have been a preferred vendor at Senate Garage since 2017.
Is there a noise ordinance? While there is no specific rule, given that it’s an older historical building and also in the heart of the Stockade District of Kingston, one must be mindful of the volume you play out. I don’t “overdo it” when it comes to dance, but be assured the sound is immaculate.
Do you charge a travel fee to Senate Garage? No. I am fortunate I live literally one mile away on Main Street. Senate Garage is the closest venue to me.
He communicated with us the entire night and made everything perfect. He played everything I wanted to hear but kept guests on the dance floor.
We even had several guests comment to us during the reception that our playlist was the best they've ever heard at a wedding.
He was a dream to work with from the early planning meetings, where he went out of his way to get to know us the wedding itself, where he absolutely CRUSHED every single second.
All of my guests said we had the best music and the dance floor was occupied the whole time. I can credit DJ Lou for a wonderful wedding!

Our guests are still telling us how much fun they had on the dance floor, now almost 3 months later!
The music for our reception was just what we wanted and he emcee'd the evening with ease, not one of those cheesy emcee's who thinks it's their time to show off their sand-up skills.
